Palestinians Mark 50th Anniversary of Land Day

The Palestinian people commemorated the 50th anniversary of Land Day on Monday, amid ongoing attacks. Land Day is marked annually on March 30th to remember the tragic events of 1976, when Israeli authorities confiscated thousands of acres of land in Arab villages in northern Galilee. In response, the Arab population of Israel organized a general strike and mass protests. The suppression of these demonstrations by security forces resulted in the deaths of six protesters and dozens of injuries. Since then, Land Day has become a symbol of resistance against the expropriation of Palestinian land and the struggle for national and civil rights. This year, as in previous years, events for Land Day are held under the slogan of protecting Palestinian lands and against the ongoing Israeli occupation and settlement expansion. Palestinians and their supporters around the world are also holding various events to raise awareness about this issue.
