Palestinian government to pay 50% of salaries amid financial crisis

The Palestinian Authority relies mainly on tax revenues to cover the salaries of its employees and operating expenses, in addition to international aid that has decreased significantly in recent years. The Palestinian government said it will pay, on Wednesday, 50% of the salaries of its employees in the civilian and military sectors for December amid its ongoing financial crisis. Israel continues to withhold tax revenues on goods that generally enter the Palestinian market through it, in exchange for a three percent commission. The Ministry of Finance and Planning stated in a statement: "The date for paying public sector salaries for December will be today, at a rate of 50% of the salary and a minimum of 2000 shekels".
