The Palestinian National Economy Ministry issued an urgent call to the United Nations and the international community to pressure the Israeli Government to stop using hunger and lack of supplies as weapons of war against the Gaza Strip. In a statement, it mentions Israel's refusal to allow the entry of basic necessities such as water, electricity, and food to the population of Gaza.
In another statement published by the media office of the Gaza Government, led by Hamas, it warns about the worsening humanitarian situation and the threat of famine due to Israel's continued closure of the border crossings into the Strip for more than thirteen consecutive days.
The Gaza Government stated that since March 2, when the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas expired, Israel has blocked the entry of aid shipments, including food. The urgency for the international community to uphold international laws that guarantee the rights and basic needs of citizens in times of conflict is emphasized.
