Approximately 90 thousand people attended the first Friday prayer in the month of Ramadan at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, reported the Islamic authority in the city.
Among the worshippers were women, children, and the elderly. Religious leaders appealed to those who believe in their teachings, calling for peace and justice in the region.
"The Al-Aqsa Mosque is very important for us during this holy month," stated the authority representative.
On this day, comprehensive security measures were implemented in order to ensure a peaceful conduct of the prayer ceremony.
