Yesterday, thousands of Palestinians completed the Friday prayers in Al-Aqsa. For Muslims, this place is sacred and it is here that Rasul Allah Muhammad, according to tradition, ascended to the heavens.
They gathered again on this day for prayer after two weeks and more of heightened tensions with Israeli forces without restraint. Many believers arrived before sunrise to find themselves in long lines at the control checkpoints and to go through inspections.
One of the believers, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to visit the mosque, said: "This is our obligation and our joy. We will not stop no matter what we should continue coming here to pray."
