The senior Russian diplomat called for the Hamas movement to begin negotiations with the Israeli government on Tuesday to achieve a long-awaited peace in the Gaza sector. Alexander Shulagin, deputy foreign minister of Russia, expressed concern about the worsening situation in the region and urged both sides to dialogue.
In his remarks, he noted: "We insist that long-term stabilization of the situation cannot be achieved without resuming direct negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian sides." He also emphasized the necessity of addressing the conflict based on international law.
Shulagin urged both sides to take responsibility for preventing the escalation of armed conflict and refrained from provocations.
