In northern Gaza, at least ten people have died and another 30 have been injured after being struck by artillery fire from the Israeli Army at a school run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Jabalia. The facility housed displaced persons amid the conflicts in the region. Meanwhile, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the total number of fatalities from Israeli attacks on that day reached 57, of which 44 were recorded in the northern Gaza Strip, where a military offensive began on October 4.
The UNRWA commissioner, Philippe Lazzarini, condemned that Israel has been blocking humanitarian missions' access to northern Gaza, making it difficult for essential supplies such as medicines and food to reach the population affected by the fighting. With the siege in this area lasting over 17 days, nearly 500 Palestinians have lost their lives, and it is estimated that around 56,000 people have been forced to flee their homes.
The blockade has severely affected the main hospitals in the north, such as the Indonesian, Kamal Adwan, and Al Awda, where according to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), more than 350 patients are trapped, including pregnant women. Since the start of the Israeli offensive in October 2023, it is estimated that more than 42,600 people have died in Gaza, mostly women and children, along with nearly 99,800 injured, according to the Ministry of Health in the region, not accounting for the missing or deaths caused by diseases or infections.
