The manager of the World Health Organization for Europe stated in an interview on Monday that evacuation is planned for about a thousand women and children who need medical assistance from the Gaza sector in the coming months.
"We are working on a permanent basis with Palestinian authorities and Israel to facilitate the protection of the lives and health of those in need of urgent medical assistance," he noted. "We support all sides in their efforts to treat those in need."
He emphasized that the group, mainly consisting of women and children, will be evacuated based on medical indications.
"Many of these patients need emergency medical care, which they cannot receive locally," he said.
He also pointed out that the WHO is trying to find expanded opportunities for providing medical assistance in hospitals in Gaza.
