As a result of an operation by the Israeli army in the Palestinian refugee camp al-Fawwar on the western bank of the Jordan River, three people were killed and two were detained. The incident occurred after soldiers surrounded a house where a group of militants was hiding.
Witnesses report that before the forceful operation, the Israeli army called several young people to the house and demanded their surrender. When they refused, the shooting began. One of the residents of the camp was injured and arrested, another was seriously injured during the confrontation and later died in the hospital. As a result of the operation, two other local residents were killed.
A military representative stated that the operation was conducted to arrest members of a terrorist cell responsible for a series of attacks on Israelis in recent months. During the confrontation, confiscated were assault weapons and ammunition. In the area, operations against suspected criminal activity continue.
