Gaza Civil Defense Nears Total Shutdown Due to Siege

The Gaza Strip Civil Defense Department warned on Thursday that it will soon be forced to fully suspend its activities due to the ongoing Israeli blockade for more than two months. This will lead to a lack of fuel urgently needed for the operation of the emergency service.

"The civil defense is unable to provide essential services naturally due to the acute shortage of diesel fuel required for the operation of power plants and necessary equipment," said a statement issued by the Civil Defense Department in Gaza.

This warning comes amid a worsening impact of the Israeli blockade on the sector, where the acute shortage of fuel has led to reduced operating hours of electricity generation plants in various areas of the sector, coinciding with the beginning of the winter season.
