On Thursday, the Ministry of Health of Gaza announced that the number of casualties from the war with Israel in the region has risen to 47,583 people following the discovery of additional bodies during the ceasefire, which has already lasted seven days.
A representative of the Gaza ministry stated: "We have discovered new bodies of the deceased in the destroyed buildings. This confirms the horrific toll imposed by Israel against our people."
Since the onset of the conflict in May, many homes and infrastructure in Gaza have been destroyed. Local residents still require humanitarian aid, as many have been left without shelter and other basic necessities.
The number of casualties is expected to continue to rise as rescuers continue to search the devastated areas for the living and the dead.
